RANDALL participated in the construction of the Hutchinson Island Dissolved Oxygen (DO) Plant as part of the Army Corps of Engineers Savannah Harbor Expansion Project (SHEP). This 24-month project consists of two plants, using 12 Speece cones. The system is designed to deliver dissolved oxygen into the Savannah river to protect the marine life, as the Corps deepens the harbor. The system injects a total of 40,000 pounds of oxygen per day into the river, to oxygenate the water for fish, wildlife and plant life.
RANDALL owned the task of expertly welding the specialized super duplex 2507 stainless steel pipe, ranging in size up to 60 inches in diameter. As part of the scope RANDALL welded, shipped the pipe valves and fittings; as well as set the equipment on site. To date, initial testing by the US Army Corps has deemed the system successful.
